The items up for vote at the regular council meeting were:
Second reading Ordinance 2025-04: Voted Yes. This was a rezoning at 213 Pelzer Hwy. From residential to office institutional. Other commercial in the area. This business coming there will not generate a lot of traffic.
First reading Ordinance 2025-05: Voted Yes. This was to extend the moratorium. Although this was written to extend for three months we voted to amend to six months. The Planning Commission is half way through the document. Three months may have created a rush to meet the three month deadline in order for the council to vote. This is an important document for the city to just rush and get it done in three months.
First reading Ordinance 2025-06: Voted No. This was the yearly budget. This budget increased $11,000,000 (yes, eleven million dollars). The is another 3 mil tax increase. I would like to provide more details but was not given the presentation documents.
The council was not involved with the budget like we were last year. Details forthcoming in another post. The public hearing will be at the next meeting in June so it will be your chance to voice your concerns.
